The Mauritius Football Association has sent the following communiqué regarding the Season 2020/2021. The MFA has informed the public about a definitive decision regarding all the national and regional football competitions in the country for season 2020/21.
With the ongoing uncertainty of the sanitary conditions in the country tied with the government’s directives on the practice of team sports being subject to strict protocols, together with the legal frameworks on player’s transfer regulations and the financial resources needed by our different clubs to return to play, a unanimous decision, by the National Managing Committee of the Mauritius Football Association, was reached to declare the season 2020/21 null and void.
Consequently, there shall be no declared champions, promotions, or relegations in all the national leagues, namely the National Super League, National Division One nor the National Division Two. In addition, the Republic Cup 2021 as well as the MFA Cup 2021 are also definitively abandoned.
The lives and health of all our stakeholders and the nation at large, remains MFA utmost priority. The main challenge now lies in the organisation of the season 2021/22 under the new sanitary conditions imposed by the government. A committee will be set-up for this purpose to review all the modalities in place.
