Disney Announces Release Dates Of Moana, Star Wars & Other Upcoming Movies

Must Read

A live-action type of movie, “Moana,” will arrive at theaters a little later than Disney had anticipated. The movie’s 2025 release date has been rescheduled for July 10, 2026.

Alongside a flurry of Disney release date announcements and rescheduled premieres came that news. The studio announced that “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” the next “Star Wars” film, and “Toy Story 5” would open in theatres in 2026, providing Disney with an impressive slate of possible blockbusters.

“Toy Story 5” will launch on June 19, 2026, while “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” a film adaptation of the popular Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” will open on May 22, 2026. This suggests that Disney is taking the revival of the “Star Wars” film franchise seriously, after having primarily concentrated on streaming series such as “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “The Book of Boba Fett.”

2019 saw the release of its most significant motion picture, “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” which was a box office hit but a critical failure. Since then, the company that oversees “Star Wars,” Lucasfilm, has announced the development of a number of projects and hired people like Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and director Patty Jenkins of “Wonder Woman.” The majority of these have so far stagnated in development and never made it to the screen.

Dwayne Johnson will play Maui again in the live-action “Moana.” The picture will be further distanced from “Moana 2,” the animated follow-up, which opens on November 27, 2024, as a result of the delay.
