Education: The Union Renounces A Situation Of Double Standards

Online classes, as prescribed by the Ministry of Education, being applied as stipulated in the regulations by all secondary schools concerned? A letter from the Secondary and Preparatory School Teachers and Other Staff Union (SPSTOSU) asks the teachers concerned to follow the guidelines of the teaching and learning schedules issued by the authorities on November 10.

According to the union, managers of secondary schools refuse to comply with the regulations issued by the Ministry of Education under the Covid-19 (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act of 2020.  In other words, the parent ministry has set up the Student Support Portal for students in grades 7, 8 and 9.

While for schools covered by the Secondary and Preparatory School Teachers and Other Staff Union, teachers have been asked to do online courses also for students in grades 7, 8 and 9.

The union has also submitted a letter to the heads of the concerned schools asking them to follow the guidelines for teaching and learning in order to maintain the element of parity and uniformity with public schools, as required by the ministry, and to avoid students being penalized in the upcoming exams.
