Britain: 72-Year-Old Mauritian Man Sentenced To Over 15 Years Prison For Sexually Abusing Two Girls

Bhaye Khodabukus, a 72-year-old resident of Haringey, was sentenced to 15 years and six months in prison for sex crimes committed against two children between 1999 and 2013. The victims were between 6 and 10 years old at the time of the crimes. In the Wood Green Crown Court in May, Bhaye Khodabukus pleaded guilty to a number of offences, including rape of a child under the age of 13, enticing a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual touching of a child and gross indecency with a child.

An investigation had been initiated against him in September 2019. Bhaye Khodabukus then fled Britain and settled in Mauritius. However, he had been arrested on 13 October 2019. However, according to press reports, he had confessed to his relatives in Mauritius that he had indeed committed child abuse.

Bhaye Khodabukus, according to British media reports, had cooperated with the police. He was charged on 4 April 2020 with 21 counts of sexual offences against two children.

Convicted, Wood Green Crown Court sentenced him on Monday 20 December to 15 years and six months in prison for sexual abuse.
