What Were Two Vans Doing At The Champ De Mars On Saturday?

Must Read

The investigation to shed light on the installation of booby traps, nails, and other dangerous objects on the Champ de Mars trail is progressing quickly. The policemen are already viewing the Safe City cameras in the area. Moreover, the presence of two vehicles in the Champ du Mars compound in the early hours of Saturday is intriguing.

Two vehicles entered the Champ de Mars at around 2 am on Saturday. This is what the Safe City cameras in Port Louis revealed. Their number plates could be identified from the footage.

The police are now looking for the owners of the two vehicles. One of the vans left the site a few hours later whereas the second remained inside until 6.30 am.

The police are also interested in the mobile phone of Sanjeev Kistopersad. The 32-year-old Tranquebar resident works as a security guard for People’s Turf PLC. He was arrested on Saturday evening.

In addition, another individual was spotted not far from the track on the camera footage. When questioned by police, he explained that he lives near the Champ de Mars. He participated in a parade and positively identified Sanjeev Kistopersad. According to the resident, Kistopersad had a bag and was on the track on Friday afternoon.

The police are therefore interested in the Tranquebar resident’s phone, who is facing a provisional charge of attempting to torture animals. He remains in custody.

The police said in court yesterday that they are looking for Sanjeev Kistopersad’s accomplice.

However, the latter denied the charges against him. He said he was at a party on Friday afternoon.
