The situation is extremely serious and it is clear that there is a shortage of oxygen and that our medical corps is not trained to deal with such a situation.
“Ena plis ki a health emergency in Mauritius… Every Mauritian’s life is in danger…”, said Shakeel.
According to the lawyer, the Government is guilty of negligence. There are shortcomings in the public health system, which he considers criminal, but it is the population that pays for these failures.
The population must realize the situation we are in today. In the letter addressed to France, an emergency request for oxygen was made to the company Air Liquide in order to face the current situation. The request was for a 12-ton tank that can hold 20 tons of oxygen.
The letter also mentions that the Barcuda is ready to leave for Reunion with 30 fully vaccinated crew members to retrieve the requested equipment.
