Special Striking Team Raid A Rave Party In Triolet On Saturday Evening

Must Read

An anti-drug operation was carried out by officers from the Police Headquarters Special Striking Team (PHQ SST), led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ashik Jagai, on Saturday. They struck at a rave party in Triolet and seized several types of drugs.

Regular rave-goers were invited to a secret location in a wooded area in the village of Triolet that day. To gain access, they had to show their credentials, as entry was strictly controlled. On site, nearly 300 revelers, most of them young people, are having a wild time.

Bouncers keep a watchful eye on the place, situated in a cane field. There were drinks and drugs.

Shortly before midnight, ASP Jagai, who was supervising the operation, and his men stormed in.

Searches were carried out. Around 28 cigarettes containing cannabis were seized, as were various drugs – MDMA, cocaine, cannabis, hashish, Crystal Meth, LSD and cannabis seeds.

Two persons, believed to be the organisers, were placed under arrest. They are aged 32 and 33. They spent the night behind bars. The owner of the premises, a resident of Vallée-des-Prêtres, was interviewed by the police.

Several ‘ravers’ were questioned and allowed to return home. Narcotics were seized from some of them.

The two organisers of a rave party appeared before the Bail and Remand Court on Sunday. One of them was released on a bail of 10,000 rupees and after signing a debt recognizance of  25,000 rupees.

During their interrogation, the two suspects stated that the drugs found at the scene were not intended for sale and denied being drug dealers.

However, they did not reveal the source of the drugs. The two suspects will be brought before the Pamplemousses court on Monday to face provisional charges.
