Sainte Croix: A Nonagenarian Relieved Of Rs 5000

A 25-year-old man is being sought by police for robbing a 93-year-old man of Rs 5000 on Thursday morning at rue Mamzelle, Sainte-Croix.

The suspect committed the robbery at around 10.30 a.m. on Thursday May 2. The elderly man was walking down the street when he was accosted by the suspect. The man, whom he knew very well, reached into the left pocket of his shirt and forcibly took the sum of Rs 5000 in various denominations before fleeing.

The victim immediately went to the Abercrombie police station on St. Croix to report the theft. He gave a detailed account of the circumstances surrounding the theft.

Meanwhile, a 59-year-old woman was the victim of a similar theft while walking along a street in Morcellement VRS, Plaine Magnien when she was jostled from behind by a man in the afternoon of Thursday May 2. As she lay on the ground, the man snatched her gold chain from around her neck before forcibly taking her handbag. The purse contained her bank cards, two cell phones and the sum of Rs 1500. The total value is estimated at Rs 50,000.

The fifty-something woman suffered injuries to her left knee, neck and left arm.
