Roshi Bhadain Informed The Supreme Court Of Suren Dayal’s Intention To Challenge The DPP’s Discontinuance Of Proceedings

Must Read

The Private Prosecution case of Suren Dayal against Pravind Jugnauth was called before the Supreme Court on Monday. This was supposed to be the last hearing because the Director of Public Prosecutions had decided to discontinue the proceedings a few days ago at the District Court. The Supreme Court was therefore supposed to take note of this development and thus, close the case, concerning Pravind Jugnauth’s challenge to the action initiated by Suren Dayal. However, after the Supreme Court took note of the DPP’s dismissal of the case in the District Court, one of Suren Dayal’s lawyers, Roshi Bhadain, informed the judges that his client was considering challenging the DPP’s decision through judicial review. He asked that the case be called again in a few weeks. The case has been adjourned to September 26 at 2 pm, before the full bench of the Supreme Court.
