Residents Of The Foyer Père Laval Cause Trouble

Must Read

The manager of the Foyer Père Laval on Nicolay Road, Sainte-Croix, has identified several young people who were behind the incidents that occurred in this home on the evening of Sunday, November 28. Fire, ransacked furniture and damaged gate, are the damages caused by some of these young people. She gave a statement to this effect at the station of Plaine-Verte this Tuesday, November 30. An investigation was initiated.

In her statement, the manager of this home, 59 years old and resident of Sainte-Croix, gave an account of these violent incidents that occurred around 10:40 pm on the evening of Sunday, November 28. On that day, she was working when she saw two 12-year-old boys on the second floor of this building start a fire by setting fire to papers and books. However, the fire was quickly put out by the other residents of the home.

Immediately, she went to the area and saw two other youths blocking the bathroom door. A staff member was there washing the feet of the other children. Upon her intervention, the two children ran away. A child who was present did not take kindly to the comments made by the employee. He had to tell a 15 year old boy about it. This last madman had to go down to the first floor to fill a plastic bottle with earth before throwing it. A cupboard door and a table were damaged. He then threw two chairs onto the road.

Another youth emptied the contents of a garbage can or the middle of the yard before setting it on fire. The 15 year old approached the flame and lit a piece of wood before placing it on the automatic gate of the home. The gate was damaged.

The damaged property belongs to the Bishopric of Port-Louis. The damage has not yet been assessed.
