PM Meets Ambassador Of The People’s Republic Of China

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Mauritius, Mr. Liying Zhu, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, today at the Treasury Building in Port Louis.

In a statement after the meeting, Mr. Zhu said that discussions with the Prime Minister focused on cooperation between Mauritius and China, while stressing the need to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Topics related to climate change, environmental protection and cooperation in the industrial sector were discussed, he added.

The ambassador stressed the importance of strategic cooperation between the countries in the fight against VIC-19 and reiterated China’s support to Mauritius. China, he said, will offer vaccines in the near future to help the Mauritian government to vaccinate as many people as possible.

He also mentioned that China and Africa will hold a conference on China-Africa cooperation by the end of the year to consolidate ties between African countries and China. This platform will thus strengthen the cooperation between Mauritius and China, he pointed out.
