An identity card will no longer be sufficient to travel to the United Kingdom as of October 1.
As of October 1, 2021, European Union (EU) citizens who want to travel to the United Kingdom will need a passport to enter. The identity card will no longer suffice, as London considers this document to be insufficiently secure.
The regulation requiring a passport applies to citizens of EU countries but also to Swiss, Norwegians, Icelanders and residents of Liechtenstein.
This measure is part of the new border management procedures developed by the British.

“The EU workers we are talking to will not come to the UK on a short-term visa to help the UK out of the shit they themselves created,” said Edwin Atema, head of research and enforcement at the Netherlands-based FNV union, which represents drivers across the bloc.
