Jeremy Désiré Décidé, Aka Nono, Will Be Extradited To Réunion Island

Must Read

It’s over ! Jeremy Désiré Décidé, also known as Nono, is to be extradited to Réunion. This morning, magistrate Chitra Soobagrah-Pillay, sitting before the Bail and Remand Court, informed the detainee that procedures have been undertaken.

It should be noted that the lawyers of the Independent Commission against Corruption, Ghireesh Bundhoo and Dhannish Gunesh, present in Court, said they had no objection that the provisional charge of money laundering against Nono in Mahebourg court be struck out for the time being in order to allow the extradition.

On 7 July 2023, Magistrate Shavina Jugnauth of the Port-Louis Court ordered that Jeremy Désiré Décidé be extradited to Réunion after the Attorney General’s Office filed an extradition request against 37-year-old Nono with the French authorities on 31 March 2023.

Nono had been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment on 2 July 2021. He was involved in trafficking cannabis destined for Mauritius. The sentence was handed down by the Saint-Denis Court of Appeal in absentia.

Nono was arrested on 15 February 2023 following questioning by the anti-corruption commission. Nono, who lives in Rivière-Noire, is suspected of being involved in money laundering for Jean Hubert Célérine, also known as Franklin.
