The official figures published by the besafeMoris application do not include the results of rapid tests… even when, they are positive. This is what the health minister said this morning at the Private Notice Question. Kailesh Jagutpal justified the decision by the fact that 98% of positive cases following a rapid test are asymptomatic.
Xavier-Luc Duval replied that the figures included in the besafeMoris application are not true to reality. The Minister of Health then stated that the strategy has changed. It is important, according to him, to give the figures which are of paramount importance. “It is not useful to dilute these important numbers,” he said.
Kailesh Jagutpal also said that the government has changed its strategy. Initially, in 2020, it was to contain the cases of contamination. Now it’s about providing care. Especially since, according to him, 90% of the adult population is vaccinated.
In his opening response, Kailesh Jagutpal said that the number of PCR tests conducted from 1 to 24 October in the community, at the airport and in the private sector is 47,855 (Central Health Laboratory conducted 5,868 PCR tests, Airport Lab 25,212, Nova Lab 6327 and Wellkin 11,819).
The number of positive cases in the community during the period 1 to 24 October was 1,738.
Also, during this period 44,838 rapid tests were performed.
From 1 to 24 October 2021, 47 Covid-19 positive people died but the cause of death was not attributed to Covid-19.
