The 2020-2021 batch included 9101 candidates in total. The percentage pass rate for the Cambridge Higher School Certificate (HSC) 2021 for the Republic of Mauritius attained 89.99%, compared to 74.95% in 2019. The pass rate for Mauritius is 90.27%, that is 75.73% for boys and 92.21% for girls who also beat the boys this year, the same for Rodrigues, the girls obtained 86% of the pass and the boys 75.73%, that is to say an overall rate of 81.82% and therefore the overall pass rate for the Republic is 92.01% for girls and 87.22% for boys, that is to say 89.99. It is noted that out of the 7,866 students who sat for the 2021 HSC Examinations, 7,079 passed. The 4,555 girls did better than the 3,311 boys, with a percentage pass rate of 92.1%, compared to 87.22% for boys.
Leela Devi Dookun Luchoomun, the Minister of Education is pleased with the increase in the success rate for the 2020/2021 school year. She Stated: “Despite everything, the students have shown courage and determination during this examination period. I would also like to congratulate the parents who supported the students and the teachers and school principals who devoted themselves to their students during their schooling and who knew how to guide them and help them face the multiple challenges during the pandemic. To the young people, I would like to say that they are heading for university studies and I wish them every success,” said the Minister of Education.
