German Ambassador Discusses Bilateral Tourism With PM Jugnauth

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Michael Hausler, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, yesterday afternoon, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.

In a statement after the meeting, Ambassador Hausler expressed his honour at meeting the Prime Minister, highlighting the close relations between Germany and Mauritius.

They discussed the positive trend of bilateral tourism, noting the presence of 120,000 German tourists in Mauritius last year and the potential for further increases this year, which would benefit the Mauritian economy.

Economic ties were also a focal point of their discussion, with plans to organise a mission of German businesspeople to Mauritius either this year or in 2025.

Ambassador Bakhshi dwelt on the forthcoming collaboration between Iran and Mauritius

Yesterday morning, the Ambassador of Iran to Mauritius, Mr Hassan Ali Bakhshi, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Prime Minister (VPM), Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun at the MITD House in Phoenix.

In a statement, Ambassador Bakhshi provided an insight on his intent to receive updates regarding ongoing discussions held over the past two years with the VPM regarding upcoming collaborative projects. He further pointed out that his regular meetings with the VPM enabled them to jointly assess the way forward and address any challenges faced.

Elaborating on the topics covered, he dwelt on their joint review of various sectors including tertiary education, academic exchange, scientific research, with a particular focus on technical training for professionals.

Expressing Iran’s willingness to share its wealth of knowledge as a gesture of friendship, the Ambassador disclosed Iran’s expertise across 5,000 professional domains. He emphasised the potential profound impact this could have on Mauritius, given its shortage of manpower.

Mr Bakhshi dwelt on the forthcoming collaboration between Iran and Mauritius through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and indicated that the project’s finalisation is imminent.

Additionally, the Iranian Ambassador noted the excellent relations between the two countries over the past four years and mentioned several upcoming projects under discussion with other Ministries in Mauritius.
