He won his first race in Mauritius impressively. The classy horse Nourbese will face a better opposition in the main race on Saturday. He will be the horse to beat.
Nourbese was not imported to race in Mauritius. He was in transit and in quarantine before being sent to race in Singapore or Dubai. He won a group II race, the Durban Golden Horseshoe (1400m), ran second in the Premiers Champion Stakes (GI – 1600m)and was rated as one of the best three years old horse in South Africa. He was block in Mauritius for several months due to the lockdown and the stop of international flight due to the COVID-19 pandemic. His owners decided to sell him and some members of the Ricky Maingard stables bought him at a high price.
Nourbese had a long rest and trainer Ricky Maingard took all the needed time to bring him back in a good shape. He was back in competition after more than one year. Nourbese was a beaten horse 300m from the finish line on the 9th of September. He produced an amazing turn of foot in the final straight to win his first race in Mauritius easily. He is in a better physical condition having done excellent gallops. He will be hard to beat.
The horses who can be right there if Nourbese does not win this race are Blackburn Roc, Red Mars and Battle Of Alesia. Blackburn Roc is back after a break of three months. He will be a tough opponent at the finish. Red Mars is a genuine performer. Battle Of Alesia ran second behind Nourbese. He will carry less weight this time.
