Chemin-Grenier Fisherman Arrested For Drug Trafficking

Suspected that he was engaged in drug trafficking, a police raid was carried out at the house of Mohammad Yasin Calloo, a 32-year-old fisherman also known as ICU in Camp Gopal, Belle-Vue, Chemin-Grenier late in the afternoon of Monday, September 27, and at another house on the Royal Road in Chemin-Grenier resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cannabis, seeds of this drug, ten cannabis plants and all the paraphernalia used for weighing and packaging of this drug. The market value of the seized drugs is Rs 262 400.

The information obtained by the policemen of Alpha 3, of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Metropolitan Police after this raid at the house of this fisherman at about 3:45 pm proved to be true. During the first raid, these policemen led by inspector Jauforally discovered two plastic bags containing a certain quantity of cannabis, a newspaper containing the same drug, a transparent plastic containing one hundred and fifty-nine cannabis seeds, three cut stems of cannabis, an electronic scale, a plastic bag containing in its turn twenty-seven resealable bags and ten cannabis plants measuring between ten and one meter forty.

Another search made around 4:20 p.m. in the second house of this fisherman on Royal Road in Chemin Grenier allowed this team of police officers to seize a transparent plastic bag with cannabis, another plastic bag with five rolling papers containing cannabis, another rolling paper with this drug and an electronic scale with traces of cannabis, a cigarette box containing 1492 cannabis seeds, a transparent plastic bag with one hundred and seventeen resealable bags and a pair of scissors.

Yasin Calloo was then taken to the Adsu office in the Central Barracks for questioning. He was then placed in detention at the police station of Trou aux Biches.  This Tuesday morning, September 28, he was brought before the court of Souillac on a provisional charge of drug trafficking. He was then taken back to the police cell.
