Must Read

Xavier-Luc Duval commented on the 25% cut in the allowances of the Mauritian athletes during a press conference of Alliance de l’Espoir on Saturday morning. He said that he was shocked that the athletes’ allowances had to be cut, even more so when one considers that billions of rupees have been spent on the Cote d’Or stadium. “The maintenance costs amount to nearly several million rupees every year,” he said. Xavier-Luc Duval also compared this to the millions spent on Air Mauritius receiver Managers, as well as “the millions of rupees paid to advisers in the Prime Minister’s Office“.

Xavier-Luc Duval also announced that the l’Espoir platform will participate in the activities in view of commemorating the 1st death anniversary of Soopramanien Kistnen. The other leaders and himself will participate in a wreath laying ceremony on the 15th October. In addition, they will meet the members of the Avengers’ team on Monday afternoon.

Bérenger says he was “finally consulted” by the President

Paul Bérenger announced that the President of the Republic has “finally consulted” him regarding the planned appointments to the Electoral Supervisory Commission and the Electoral Boundaries Commission. But Paul Bérenger does not agree with the way things are done. “I have received a letter. Does this amount to a consultation? A real consultation should have been face-to-face. But the President of the Republic seems not to have time for us,” he lamented.

Paul Bérenger also said that the L’Espoir alliance has been working on an electoral programme for all the municipalities as well as a new Local Government Act. “The actual law is completely outdated. But while working on the municipalities, we will not forget the district councils,” said the MMM leader.

Bhadain: “Either Padayachy or Satar has lied”

In a press conference this Saturday morning, Roshi Bhadain came back on a statement made by Renganaden Padayachy in Parliament last May. The finance minister had said that Rs 3 billion have already been injected into Air Mauritius, including $ 45 million which were used to provide a guarantee to IATA. “This is not mentioned anywhere in Manager receiver report.

Roshi Bhadain also recalled that out of the Rs 12 billion, Rs 9.5 billion will be used to pay creditors and Rs 2.5 billion to enable Air Mauritius to function. He stated that according to Satar Hajee Abdoula’s accounts, there is already a deficit of Rs 1.5 billion and this is a problem. “This leaves only Rs 1 billion to run Air Mauritius, which is impossible. So the government will be forced to inject money back into the company,” he said.
