On Friday, August 18, 2023, a delegation from the World Bank led by Ms Idah Z. Pswarayi-Riddihough, World Bank Operations Director for Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius and Mozambique was visiting Rodrigues. She was accompanied by Mr Sjamsu Rahardja, the new Senior Country Economist and Country Representative for Mauritius and the Seychelles, and Ms Brinda Dabysing, Senior Financial Sector Specialist.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss the new Plaine Corail airstrip project. This meeting sets the stage for the Pre-Evaluation mission, scheduled for August 20-25, 2023, aimed at finalizing the project’s components prior to its presentation to the World Bank’s Board of Directors.
During their mission, the World Bank delegation visited the Integrated Center for Sustainable Development in Contour Oblass, where they had the opportunity to see the measures implemented and the strategy in place as part of the reform of the island’s water sector.
