Woman Arrested For Theft Of Laying Hens And Poultry Feed

An investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Eau-Coulée has led to the arrest of the woman responsible for the theft of 200 laying hens and 1200 kilos of poultry feed. It is to the detriment of D & Breeders Co Ltd in La Butte, Wooton that this theft was committed between Saturday October 29 and Monday December 12. The value of this theft is Rs 65 000. Tillavi Pillali Narainen, 23 years old and resident of State Land, Cité Malherbes, Curepipe, confessed to have committed this crime.

In the afternoon of Monday, December 12, a 48-year-old man and resident of the area reported a case of theft on his farm at the Eau-Coulée police station. In his complaint, he explained that 200 laying hens and 1200 kilos of poultry feed were stolen from his farm in La Butte, Wootun. The investigation was initiated in this case by elements of the CID of Eau-Coulée. A special operation mounted on Tuesday, December 13, led to the arrest of Tillavi Pillali Narainen. She was taken to the CID office to be subjected to a close interrogation.

The young woman finally confessed her guilt in this case. A search of her home resulted in the recovery of some of the loot, including 50 laying hens and 25 kilos of poultry feed. Tillavi Pillali Narainen was brought before the court of Curepipe the same day on a provisional charge of theft.  She was released on parole after paying a bail of Rs 7150 and an IOU of Rs 40,000.
