Must Read

Premature end of the 2020/2021 championship: Trou aux Biches Sharks (men) and Quatre-Bornes VBC (women) were unanimously declared champions of the 2020/2021 national league, following a meeting held at the headquarters of the Mauritian Volleyball Association (AMVB) last Wednesday, November 10. Goodlands VBC in girls and Trou d’eau Douce VBC in boys are relegated.

A unanimous decision for the well-being of all. This is what emerges from the communiqué issued by the governing body of Mauritian volleyball this Friday, November 12. However, on October 25, the AMVB had announced the resumption of the championship for the intention to relaunch the championship for November 10, 2021 after a break of almost eight months.

But the knife fell on November 10 with a unanimous decision to end the championship. “It is a unanimous decision taken for the welfare of all those involved in the organization of the championship and it came even before the new health measures in court from November 12, “said the president of the AMVB, Fayzal Bundhun.

Thus in the men’s table where eight teams were competing, it is Trou aux Biches Sharks with 31 points (11 outings, 11 wins) that was declared champion. Faucon Flacq Camp-Ithier VBC is the runner up with 30 points. Trou d’Eau Douce VBC with a zero point is relegated.

Among the leaks, Quatre-Bornes VBC was crowned with 15 points (5 outings, 5 wins). Tranquebar Black Rangers SC takes the second place with the same number of points as the champions (6 outings, 5 wins and 1 loss).

Goodlands VBC, who should have been in the women’s league but didn’t show up, was automatically relegated. As a result, Buswell VBC of Rose-Hill, which is last in the ranking, will be retained for the next women’s championship.
