The Vital 2022 cross-country league started yesterday on the mythical course of the Candos hill. The facts of the day remain the victories of the veterans Sabrina Rabot in the senior women and Simon Desvaux de Marigny in the senior men.
Simon Desvaux de Marigny, an emblematic figure of the ultras trails in Mauritius, imposed his law on a distance as short as 5.7 km (19’28) in a category which is not his. Moreover, he made Abhishek Custnea (19’54), the defending champion, bend over. Shyaveen Dussaram (20′ 05) completed the podium.
The same goes for the girls with the victory of Sabrina Rabot who, after a brilliant career in the 400m and 800m, spends a lot of time running the trail. Sabrina Rabot covered the 4 km in 16’25. Ashley Telvave (18’00) took second place. Océanne Flores (18’59) finished in third place. Note however that Alicia Staub, winner in the U20 girls, was the fastest over 4 km with a time of 16’05.
The club Le Hochet AC was very competitive in this first round with five victories of its protégés: Simon Desvaux de Marigny (Sen h), Adriel Berthelot (U12), Kenan Leclerc (U16), Anielle Petit (U18) and Kelsy Leclerc (u12).
The second round will take place next Saturday, August 6, starting at 9:30 am on the side of the public beach in St-Felix.
