The recreational programme, ‘Vakans – Easter Holidays 2023’, was a success owing to the participation of a great number of youngsters from all around the island’.
The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Jean Christophe Stephan Toussaint, made this statement, yesterday at Blue Bay Public Beach, following the last Fun Beach Games and Youth Concert held in the context of the ‘Vakans – Easter Holidays 2023’. Fun Beach Games were also organised simultaneously at the public beaches of Belle Mare, Flic en Flac and Mont Choisy.
The latter highlighted that new activities will likewise be proposed in the various outdoor centres across the island during the next school holidays. He recalled that, for this edition of ‘Vakans’, activities ranged from, amongst others, Fun Beach Games and Mountaineering to Coastal Hikes and Youth Concert.
The Sports Minister further observed that various sports equipment, including canoe for kayaking, were available for the Fun Beach Games held at the Belle Mare Public Beach, Mont Choisy Public Beach, Flic en Flac Public Beach and Blue Bay Public Beach. He also seized this opportunity to commend all stakeholders who contributed to make ‘Vakans’ a success and encouraged the youth to follow his Ministry’s Facebook page for updates regarding upcoming activities.
It is recalled that ‘Vakans’, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, in collaboration with the Mauritius Recreation Council, the National Youth Council and the Mauritius Sports Council, targeted young Mauritians during Easter Holidays 2023. The recreational programme started on 06 April 2023 and will end with a Final of the Regatta League and a Musical Concert on Sunday 23 April 2023 at the Mahebourg Waterfront as from 10 00 hours.
