Vaccine Mix: Johnson & Johnson Studied For Booster And Third Dose

Must Read

It is confirmed that those, who have received two doses of Sinopharm, will receive an identical third dose, either as a third dose for those in an immunosuppressed situation or as a booster shot. According to the experience of the laboratories of the producer Sinopharm Group Co Ltd, Sinopharm can be boosted by Sinopharm.

Third dose strongly recommended

As stated by the Vaccination Committee, the vaccine is not compulsory but is intended for everyone. Johnson & Johnson is currently under consideration for those inoculated with Covaxin and Covishield/Astrazeneca. But for Astra Zeneca, the same could be used as in France. For Sputnik, the question is still open.

The third dose, which starts this Thursday 23 September, is designed to boost the antibody level. “As immunity from the vaccine is not permanent, studies will determine whether for Covid, the vaccine can become regular. According to the research, the eligible interval between the second and third dose is at least four months,” the Vaccination Committee said.

Those concerned will need to bring their identity card and their vaccination record. The 11 vaccination centres are  Plaine Verte Youth Centre, MFD Conference Centre, Freeport in Mer Rouge, Rivière du Rempart Youth Centre, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Tower, Conference Hall in Ebene, Rivière-des-Anguilles Village Hall, Pandit Sahadeo Sports Complex in Vacoas, St. Germain Comarmond Stadium in Bambous, Watercolour, Surinam, J&E Building in Coromandel, Dr. James Burty David Gymnasium in Curepipe which will be open between 9am and 3pm while Riche Mare Community Centre will be open from 9am to 1pm.

Notice to the both vaccinated and unvaccinated

Many are those who have been vaccinated with Covaxin and Covishield and they are already more than four months into their second vaccination. For those who are doubly vaccinated and have contracted Covid in the last 6 months, they will not be eligible for the third dose because their body is not yet ready

The message remains that the 130,000 people in the population, who have not yet been vaccinated, are recommended to get their vaccinations, not only for their own health but also for the health of others. The biggest known and common side effects are fever, body aches and headaches, which are immune reactions to the vaccine as the body prepares to fight the virus or variant.

Start of Pfizer administration by 16 to 17 year old

The Teenagers’ Vaccination Campaign is likely to begin sometime next week. But Pfizer and its use is still being questioned for 12 to 17 year olds. This is because Pfizer is one of the most effective vaccines, and it is recommended that it should be used on people who are immunocompromised and in great need of treatment, such as those with asthma, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cancer, and other forms of cancer. “Although this fact is supported by scientific evidence, the reality in Mauritius is different. This decision is after a very thorough study following the protocol and therefore, the inoculation on young people is justified. It is the only vaccine licensed by the WHO. We have got more than 103 000 young people concerned. We will administer the 16- to 17-year-olds first as we are receiving 76,000 doses.” Vaccination is not compulsory, but will it be compulsory in the end to have access to a school? The question is still open.

It is understood a cconsent form will be distributed to students shortly. Consent form must be filled by responsible parties and returned to administration at latest. For students who are willing to be vaccinated but have queries pertaining to medical aspects, the Doctor in charge on Vaccination Day will attend to all queries. They still need to fill in and return the consent form.

Students who are unwilling to be vaccinated will also need to return the consent. The course of action for those students will be communicated by the Authorities in due course.

Mortality at Covid 19

Most of the deaths are unvaccinated, elderly and have multiple comorbidities” says the Vaccination Committee.

Only on 21st September, there were 11 positive patient deaths, 7 of which have been directly attributed to the Covid and only 1 case was a person who had been just a single dose of vaccination. According to our cross-checking, there has not been a case of a doubly vaccinated patient dying from Covid 19 since the end of June.

As of Wednesday 22 September, the country has recorded 115 asymptomatic cases and 8 admissions to ENT Hospital due to comorbidities. In the evening of this Wednesday, September 22, 2021, the Department of Health and Welfare announced three (3) deaths, whose main causes have been attributed to COVID-19. The population is 1.15% infected.  847,203 people have been primo vaccinated and 789,197 have received two doses.
