She felt humiliated by the behavior of a member of the Student Group Union of the University of Technology Mauritius (UTM), of which she is a member. This 22-year-old student living in the northern region of the country filed a complaint on Monday afternoon, October 31, against this young man living in a northern suburb of the capital and aged 22 years for indecent assault.
It is at the police station of La Tour Koenig that the young woman went on Monday, October 31 to denounce this member of the Student Group Union of the UTM. In her complaint, she explains that on Friday, October 28, around 3:30 p.m., she was in the common room of this university with members of the student union. Two of these members, including the inhabitant of the northern suburb of the capital and an inhabitant of a southern village, aged 20, were drinking alcoholic beverages.
At one point, the southern resident began hugging her without her consent. She said she reprimanded him and he stopped. Shortly after, it was the other member of the Student Group Union, who caressed her knee to go up to her intimate part and with his right hand, he caressed her breast in front of everyone without her consent.
The young student told the police that she felt diminished and humiliated by this gesture at that moment. She said she did not report this incident the same day because she was ashamed. An investigation was initiated on this case at the level of the police station of La Tour Koenig.
