A woman draped in a white towel sits on a chair in her landlord’s dining room in Quatre Bornes. The landlord informed the police earlier that his tenant, who lives in the same courtyard, had been raped during a burglary on the evening of Wednesday January 24. Three thugs indulged their sexual urges on their victim before breaking into her house.
It was 1.25 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, when a team of police officers from the Quatre Bornes police station, led by Sergeant Brauneau, went to the home of this thirty-year-old woman in Quatre Bornes. She was staying with her landlord, who lives in the same yard. It was the landlord who alerted the police Information Room to his tenant’s misadventure.
The victim, in a state of shock, was taken into the confidence of policewoman Suddul before being questioned. It was with great difficulty that she recounted the abuse she had suffered before her house was broken into. It was around 9pm on Wednesday evening, January 24, when the three men burst into her home.
First, they bound her feet with a piece of green cloth, tied her hands behind her back with a cable and blindfolded her with a white cloth.
After satisfying their urges, the three thugs searched her bedroom and that of her 4-year-old son, who was absent at the time of the incident. After the alleged rapists left, she was able to free herself. They allegedly took Rs 800, a cell phone and a perfume.
Her house was in an indescribable mess. She immediately went to her landlord to confide in him.
The victim’s clothes were retained for analysis and she was admitted to Victoria Candos Hospital.
Her house was secured and placed under police surveillance for a thorough search by elements of the forensic police. DNA tests will be carried out on the exhibits used by the alleged suspects, who are being actively sought.
