Teenager Injured In Face By Firecracker

A 14 year old boy was admitted to the Burns’ Unit of Victoria Hospital, Candos after suffering burns to his face from firecracker shrapnel. The Bramsthan resident was taken first to the Dr Bruno Cheong Hospital in Flacq for treatment before being transferred. His condition is considered serious.

It was his 16 year old cousin who reported the burn case to the Flacq police station at around 3am on Friday 23 December. In his statement, the student explained that at around 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, he was in a store near a bakery when he heard a loud noise. Immediately afterwards his cousin, who is also a student, entered the store with injuries to his hand and chin.

He simply said, “mo finn blesse are petar”. He was immediately taken to the hospital in Flacq by his parents. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to Candos Hospital for proper care at the Burns’ Unit.

Police officers from the Flacq Police Station went to his home to make a report on the exact location of the accident.
