Must Read

A 17 year old boy ended up in a hospital bed on the evening of Wednesday, December 14 after being beaten by a group of people near the old fish pond at the Champs de Mars where he was trained. The victim and 5 of his comrades were watching the semi-final of the World Cup between France and Morocco, near a bar in the courtyard of People’s Turf at the Champs de Mars.

A police officer assigned to the Pope Hennessy police station, Port-Louis, made the statement for the teenager at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 15. The teenager, who is a student and resident of the Pailles area, explained that around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, his friends were standing near a bar in the courtyard of People’s Turf at Champs de Mars. They were watching the World Cup semi-final between France and Morocco on a giant screen.

At about 23:20, one of his friends was pushed by an unknown person. Shortly after, this individual came towards him and punched him in the face and kicked him in the hip. However, fifteen minutes later, this man came back with a group, and they dragged the teenager to the traffic circle where the old fish pond is also located. These men beat him all over his body until he lost consciousness. His friends watched helplessly.

An investigation was initiated at the Pope Hennessy police station to find the perpetrators of this attack. The police intend to view the images of the surveillance cameras.
