Teen Blown Off Roof By Wind Force

While the country was under a class 3 hurricane alert for Freddy on Monday afternoon, February 20, a 14 year old college student who was on the roof of his house in Roche Terre to remove sheet metal was blown to the ground by the wind. Injured, he was taken to the northern hospital for treatment, before being admitted to the ward.

It was around 3:30 pm on the afternoon of Monday, February 20 that this accident occurred. In a statement made at the police station in Grand Gaube in the evening, the mother of the teenager, a 41 year old woman related the circumstances of this accident.

Her son, who is in grade 8 at a state secondary school in Rivière du Rempart, was removing metal sheets from the second floor roof of his house when he was thrown to the ground by a violent gust of wind. The teenager landed on grass and gravel. His relatives immediately called the police who took him to the hospital. His condition is considered quite serious.
