The country celebrates today and for the 2nd year the Seggae Day in tribute to Kaya its creator. According to Jerry Rouget of the group Jerry and The Resistance, a formula must be found for this music to interest more young people.
Inspired by sega and reggae, seggae is an indigenous music created by the late Kaya. For Jerry Rouget, one of its ambassadors, Seggae Day is an important commemoration of history: “When future generations ask what Seggae Day is, we can answer that it is a beautiful tribute to Kaya – the creator of seggae, a music that touches both hearts and minds.
However, Jerry wishes that seggae would interest young artists a little more: “I am not saying that young artists are not currently making good music. However, they would also gain if they exploited seggae a little more. So I think we need to find the right formula to bring more young artists and young music lovers to discover this music.”
As a reminder, several artists will be present in some schools around the country this Friday to share their passions with students.
