Taxi Driver Robbed Of Money

Must Read

A misadventure that Ahmad Munir, 53, would not want to relive. He alleges that he was threatened and robbed of more than Rs 1000 by customers while taking them to places they had indicated to him last Wednesday.

The taxi driver filed a complaint with the Quartier-Militaire police.

According to the victim, the events took place on Wednesday. He was asked by an acquaintance because two men were looking for a taxi to take them from Montagne-Blanche to Brisée-Verdière.

He went to pick up the two passengers who, on the way, asked the driver to make a diversion first to the Masjiid of Terre-Rouge and then to Batterie Casée in Port-Louis.

It was there that he realised that the two passengers were drug addicts. According to the taximan, his clients met some people before getting back into the car. They then asked him to take them back to Montagne Blanche. But on the way, they forced the driver to take an abandoned path in Quartier Militaire. Once there, the two suspects threatened the driver to hand over all his money, a sum of Rs 1100, before leaving the car.

The driver, who has been in the business for about 20 years, is still in shock and has filed a statement with the Quartier Militaire police. An investigation is underway.
