Rs 47 Million Worth Of Heroin Found In An Abandoned House

A thorough search of an abandoned house on the Coastal Road in Baie du Tombeau on Monday, November 8 resulted in the seizure of more than three kilograms of heroin by the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the Western Division. This drug was wrapped in four black transparent plastics. The market value of this drug is estimated at Rs 47 421 000.

It is on the basis of the information obtained by this team of Adsu based in Rose-Hill, led by the chief inspector Ashik Jagai that the raid was made in this abandoned house at about 10:30 am. This information proved to be true, because during this search, these policemen found four transparent plastics containing a total weight of 3,427 grams of heroin. This was transported to the headquarters of Adsu in the Central Barracks.

Samples of the drug will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Reduit for analysis to determine its purity. Samples will also be taken from the packages for DNA testing. An investigation was thus initiated to trace the person who placed this drug in this house.

On the other hand, a resident of Residence La Cure was apprehended in the precincts of the court of Bambous after he was found in possession of a certain quantity of heroin and synthetic drug. It was around 1:15 pm this Monday, November 8 that Stephane Legrand, 27 years old was arrested by police officers of Adsu.

This suspect with the suspicious looks was stopped to be searched there. These policemen were to find in his possession four plastic bags containing 8.1 grams of heroin and 10.1 grams of synthetic drug. Stephane Legrand was placed in the Alcatraz detention center at the Central Barracks.

On the other hand, the 18 year old inmate Louis Fabien Desmarais was found in possession of three plastic bags containing 6.34 grams of cannabis. This resident of Le Bouchon, who is detained in the New Wing prison of Beau Bassin, was at the court of Mahébourg around 12:50 pm on Monday, November 8, when he was subjected to a body search by police officers of the Adsu.
