Stelio Clement Bisral, 41, was arrested this afternoon, Wednesday September 7, for the crime of drug trafficking. This was after a raid by the Metropolitan Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) at his home in Karo Kaliptis, Roche-Bois. The suspect was found in possession of 516 doses of synthetic drugs, 34 doses of heroin and two cellophane packages containing a quantity of cannabis. A sum of Rs 42,050 suspected to be from the sale of the drugs was also seized.
The team of police officers, led by Chief Inspector Manoj Doorbejasing and Sergeants Mungroo and Yu Sui Leung, arrived at Stelio Bisral’s home at around 1.25pm on Wednesday 7 September after hours of surveillance. They had information that the 40-year-old was involved in drug trafficking. The search proved to be successful. Indeed, 61.22 grams of synthetic drugs in 516 doses, 5.51 grams of heroin in 34 doses and 2 cellophane packages with 11.49 grams of cannabis were seized.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the ADSU office for questioning. Stelio Bisral was subsequently detained at the Piton police station on the orders of Assistant Superintendent of Police Salim Hossanee. This Thursday morning, 8 September, he will be brought before the Port Louis court where he will face a provisional charge of drug trafficking for distribution. As the police intend to object to his release on bail, Stelio Bisral will celebrate his 42nd birthday behind bars on Friday 17 September.
