Reopening: 6000 Seats Weekly With Support of Foreign Airlines

Air Mauritius will now operate with a reduced fleet. After the sale of the two A319-100s and the two A340s and the plan to return the A330-200 (3B-NBM) to its owner, the national airline has only 10 aircraft, of which only eight will be operational for the first phase. For this reopening, from 15 July Emirates Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air France and Air Austral will provide service. “British Airways will start flights in Mauritius next August”, confirms Arvind Bundhun Director of the MTPA. Counting Air Mauritius, it is planned to have 6000 seats per week.

It is expected that other airlines, former partners as well as new ones will serve Mauritius in the first phase of the reopening and the second.

In any case, thanks to the various networking and marketing campaigns, there have been nearly 700 applications for premium visas. More than 500 premium visas have been approved. Among the rejected, there are withdrawals of passengers and applicants who did not meet all the criteria.

Two categories of quarantine hotels

This follows from a decision made public by the Ministry of Tourism. A new list of Covid 19 Safe Resorts hotels is now established and will cover the period July 15 to October 01. The first category will be dedicated to vaccinated tourists and the second to unvaccinated Mauritians returning to the country.

There will be 14 hotels for the first category. It includes seven 5-star hotels, with Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa, Belle Mare Plage The Resort, Constance Le Prince Maurice, Long Beach Mauritius, Lux* Grand Gaube, Sugar Beach Resort & Spa and Trou-aux-Biches Beachcomber Resort & Spa. Five of 4 stars including the Tamarina Golf & Spa, Veranda Pointe-aux-Biches, Tamassa, Victoria Beachcomber Resort & Spa and Zilwa Attitude. The Tropical Attitude is a 3 star and Les Cocotiers, a 2 star.

Ten hotels will be dedicated to the second category including four of 4 stars, C Mauritius, Le Mauricia Beachcomber, Solana and Veranda Paul & Virginie. The five 3 stars are Coin de Mire Attitude, Coral Azur, Big Blue, Veranda Palmar and Gold Beach. Silver Beach will be one of 2 stars.

Here is a table of prices that will be practised in these establishments. Packages will vary depending on the number of people and whether the customer is a tourist or a Mauritian returning to the country.
