The outcome of the recount results leaves MMM members perplexed. Not because the results confirm the election of Ivan Collendavelloo, as was the case in December 2019, but because of the anomalies discerned during this exercise.
For Reza Uteem, of the Mauves legal team, he confirmed that officially, the defeated MMM candidate asked the Electoral Commission not to proclaim the results. Several anomalies have been identified, including the lack of 73 ballots, the ballot of Constituency No. 1 found in the ballot of Constituency No. 19 and the 2 ballots without the seal of the Electoral Commission.
These are disturbing facts that have made the MMM executive react.
For Ajay Guness, the Deputy Leader of the MMM, it is clear that there is a misunderstanding from the beginning. According to him, these are inadmissible errors in an election. Those responsible must give explanations.
As for Rajesh Bhagwan, the General Secretary of the MMM cannot hide his bitterness at these irregularities and does not mince his words. These are elections that he describes as not being “free and fair”.
Just like Deva Nagalingum who believes that these are irrefutable evidence.
It is therefore possible that the mauves will consider new legal steps in the coming days.
