The newly appointed Singaporean non-resident High-Commissioner to the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Lim Ming Yan, paid a courtesy call, Thursday afternoon, on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
In a statement, High-Commissioner Lim Ming Yan highlighted that the meeting with Prime Minister Jugnauth was cordial and that discussions focussed on the longstanding bilateral ties between the two countries. He observed that both Mauritius and Singapore, as small island States, share similar challenges.
The Singaporean High-Commissioner also underlined that there are existing cooperation projects that have been undertaken between both countries in the area of land transportation, urban development, as well as in digitalisation. These projects, he reminded, are to date successfully implemented. The potential of further collaboration regarding the implementation of future projects was also on the agenda, he indicated.
In addition, Mr Lim Ming Yan expressed appreciation for being in Mauritius for the first time. He added that being here in person is a very wonderful experience and informed that he will be making frequent trips to Mauritius in the future as he is based in Singapore itself.
It is recalled that High-Commissioner Lim Ming Yan, who was a recipient of the Singapore Armed Forces Overseas Scholarship in 1982, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Economics (First Class Honours) from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, in 1985. In 2015, he was conferred an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Birmingham. Mr Lim Ming Yan further attended the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School, United States of America. He was also the President and Group CEO of CapitaLand Limited prior to his retirement in 2018.
