Pravind Jugnauth Joins The MORIS NOU ZOLI PEI Cleaning Campaign At Ripailles

The Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, joined the cleaning team and villagers participating in the MORIS NOU ZOLI PEI campaign, this morning, at Ripailles. The campaign is being organised jointly by the Prime Minister’s Office, the District Council of Moka, and the Citizen Support Unit in the context of the World Clean up Day 2021.

Various personalities including the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, and member of Parliament, Mr Yogida Sawmynaden, were present on the occasion.

Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth also proceeded with the unveiling of a plate at the entrance of Ripailles and to the stone laying foundation of a Semi Sports Complex in the region. The Semi Sports Complex will include a children’s corner, a petanque court, and a soccer pitch.

In a statement, he reiterated Government’s priority to step up efforts and actions to protect the environment and ensure that all citizens live in a clean environment. He highlighted that the MORIS NOU ZOLI PEI campaign and the World Clean up Day are opportune times to sensitise the population on the importance of keeping the environment clean.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister stressed that the clean-up initiative should be undertaken across the country and urged all citizens and stakeholders to champion the cause. He recalled that Government has implemented various initiatives to this end, and announced another related endeavour to be spearheaded by the National Environment Cleaning Authority.

He further highlighted the need to have the collaboration of citizens, especially the youths, Non-Governmental Organisations, the private sector, and other stakeholders to back up Government’s own initiatives.

As regards the setting up of the Semi Sports Complex, Prime Minister Jugnauth underlined that the objective is to encourage all inhabitants of the region to undertake sports and physical activities. He recalled that Government is ensuring that all citizens across the country are provided with the necessary infrastructure in line with its national strategy of promoting a physically active lifestyle and engaging in sports.
