Pravind Jugnauth : I Am Totally Opposed To A Lockdown

Must Read

“A total lockdown will hurt the country a lot,” the Prime Minister said on Saturday in Beau-Vallon. He was present at a ceremony honoring the policewoman, Dimple Raghoo in the parking lot of the BoʼVallon shopping center. Pravind Jugnauth reacted to calls for a new general lockdown and responded that he is totally opposed to it at this time. According to him, people working in the tourism sector must also earn their living and contribute to the economy. He insisted on the respect of sanitary measures. Returning to yesterday’s PNQ, he said that some people are trying to make people believe that people are dying because of lack of oxygen in hospitals and said that this is totally false. The order of oxygen to Reunion Island, he said, was in anticipation of our future needs.

“The people who are calling for a new lockdown are the same ones who criticized the first lockdowns on social networks and who complained about not having enough to eat,” said Pravind Jugnauth. The Prime Minister recalled that some people had encouraged the looting of businesses. “The lockdown should not be taken lightly. Lockdown pa ene badinaz sa,” argues the head of government.

“The situation is evolving. We follow the situation on a daily basis. We take regular measures. We communicate information in all transparency. […] Everyone must take their responsibilities such as wearing their mask, disinfecting their hands and respecting the social distance, “he added.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to review the history of measures taken by the government since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic while regretting the criticism of the Opposition.
