Yesterday, Tuesday 17th of August, Mr. A.K. Dip, PMSM, Ag. Commissioner of Police as issued the following communiqué regarding access to the airport.
In spite of a Police Communiqué issued on the 2nd July 2021 regarding access to the SSR International Airport relatives of departing/ arriving passengers are still converging to the airport which is contrary to the regulations in force by virtue of the Quarantine Act.
Pursuant to Government Notice No. 142 of 2021, whereby certain activities and access to certain places as listed in the schedule will be allowed, however, the public is hereby informed that access to SSR International Airport will be restricted to certain categories of persons and conditions as laid down below:-
- Access to be restricted to duly authorized persons bearing a valid pass issued by the Department of Civil Aviation.
- No taxis or public buses to be allowed access to the airport beyond the police checkpoint.
iii. Access to be granted to one vehicle for each departing passenger. For arriving passengers from Rodrigues, private vehicles will be allowed to access to the terminal and after collecting the passengers the vehicles will be requested to leave the airport.
- At the drop off zone, accompanying parties will be requested to immediately leave the airport.
- Only passengers will be allowed to enter the airport terminal building.
