Paul Bérenger: STC Takes Billions From Consumers

Must Read

If the authorities set up a real commission of inquiry in the Betamax affair, the MSM will have a big surprise. This is what Paul Bérenger made clear at the press conference of the MMM this Saturday, July 3.  The leader of the Mauves did not want to say more, even at the time of questions. But he reiterated his wish that this future commission of inquiry be chaired by a judge of the Supreme Court. He also severely criticized the State Trading Corporation (STC), in the wake of the Betamax affair and the damages of some Rs 4.5 billion paid by the Mauritian State.

The MMM leader also returned to the depreciation of the rupee and the two rupees surplus tax on fuel. Unacceptable according to Paul Bérenger because according to him the STC takes billions of rupees from the pockets of consumers. The government must say how much has been spent on vaccines and that there must be full transparency, demanded the MMM leader.

He also returned to the grey list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the black list of the European Union. The fault according to him to the Mauritian government. Icac and other institutions were supposed to fight against money laundering, he pointed out.
