“Mama pa la, linn ale fet.” This is what a four-year-old boy said to his mother’s neighbor who had come to meet him on the evening of Friday, December 30, after hearing him cry. The child was sitting on the stairs. She took the child to her house, fed him before putting him to bed. The family protection brigade was seized with this investigation. The child was taken to the Dr Bruno Cheong Hospital in Flacq where he was admitted.
It was in the early hours of Saturday, December 31, at 4:00 a.m. that a report of an abandoned child was made at the police station of Bel Air Rivière Sèche. In her complaint, a 22-year-old woman explained that she was at home when she heard a baby crying, immediately she went to her neighbor’s house and saw her four-year-old son sitting alone on the stairs and crying. The young woman said she took the boy to her home, fed him before putting him to bed. She said she waited until very late in the night for her mother to return, but she never did. She then decided to take the boy to the police station to file a complaint.
The personnel of the brigade of the protection of the family which was alerted, took charge of the baby and led it to the hospital of Flacq. He was admitted to the ward. The area Criminal Investigation Division was notified of this case.
