Paintings: 10th And Final Exhibition For Sylvio De Lapeyre

Must Read

By way of thanks is the theme of Sylvio de Lapeyre’s exhibition. It might even be a farewell. Having done everything he wanted to put on canva, the artist intends to be discreet. The exhibition will be held from July 28 to August 3 at The Playground at the Caudan Art Center – Port-Louis.

It’s been 30 years since Sylvio takes us through 45 paintings in his bluish universe. Sometimes in the flower of a woman, sometimes in the flower of the moon, but always with strokes that whet the appetite of the eye.

For his 10th solo, the artist invites us to another stroll between the nude, femininity and landscapes, all bathed in his favorite blue: “I love blue, perhaps because I see it in the sky and sea of my country. And then unlike the colors, blue has many more nuances that I like to exploit in my works,” explains the artist.

The exhibition is also the last opportunity to contemplate the artist’s solo paintings: “I think I have done the tour of the subjects I wanted to paint. This will probably be my last solo show. But, I will continue to exhibit with collectives.”

As a reminder, the exhibition is open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 8:30pm and from 10am to 4:30pm on Sundays.
