Neighbor Arrested For Burglary At His Home

John Jeff Ynovec Robinson, 23 years old and living in La Colombe, Atlee Residence, Curepipe was arrested during the day on Monday, November 29 for a case of theft. A theft that he committed at the home of his neighbor, a 60-year-old woman, in the late afternoon of Friday, November 19. He took several gold jewels, a cell phone and a sum of Rs 21 000 and the loot is estimated at Rs 300 000. During his interrogation, the suspect confessed to the theft of a Toshiba television set from a nurse’s home in Residence Atlee.

The sixty-year-old reported this case of theft on the evening of Friday 19 to the police station of Curepipe. In her complaint, she explained that a theft was committed at her home between 13:40 and 15:15 in the afternoon of Friday, November 19. Gold jewelry was stolen, including three chains, two pairs of earrings, two rings, a bracelet as well as a Samsung cell phone and the sum of Rs 21,000 in different denominations.

In her statement, she said she suspects her neighbor, Jeff Robinson, who saw her leaving his house. This suspect, who was actively sought by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Curepipe, was apprehended this Monday, November 29 by the men of the inspector, Vikash Nundoo.  The suspect, who was subjected to a close interrogation, ended up confessing his guilt for the theft committed against this 60-year-old woman. He also admitted to the theft of a Toshiba television set in the same locality.  The owner, a 53-year-old nurse, had filed a complaint for theft on Sunday, November 7. This theft, he said, had been committed between 7:30 am on Friday, November 5 and 7 am on Saturday, November 6 and the value of this 24-inch television set is Rs 17,000.

A search of the suspect’s home revealed a black Samsung tablet that he had also stolen from the 60-year-old woman. Jeff Robinson was brought before the Court of Curepipe this Tuesday morning of November 30. He was then taken back to the police station of Curepipe.
