Mauritians can now pay their university fees with my.t billpay, a joint initiative of the Mauritius Telecom (MT), the University of Mauritius (UOM) and the Open University of Mauritius (OUM). This platform will enable students to make university payments from the safety of their homes.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mauritius Telecom (MT), Mr Sherry Singh, proceeded with the signing of an agreement between the Vice-Chancellor of UOM, Professor Dhanjay Jhurry, and the Director-General of OUM, Dr Kaviraj Sharma Sukon, respectively, today, at the Telecom Tower in Port Louis.

At a joint press conference, Mr Sherry Singh pointed out that the my.t billpay will provide students of UOM and OUM with technological facilities while highlighting that they will be able pay their registration fees, course fees, graduation fees and exam fees. Payments can be made in several installments with a limit of Rs 5 000 per day, provided that the total amount has been paid before the payment deadline, he said. He encouraged other educational institutions to adopt new modes of payment like my.t money.

In these challenging times, the CEO added that students using my.t billpay will benefit from amazing discounts on laptops, smartphones and devices at MT and will also enjoy discounts at Liquid clothing and Debonairs pizza.

Professor Jhurry extended his thanks for the unflinching support of MT throughout the years adding that the UOM places a lot emphasis on digital transformation and this innovative service will therefore free students from hassle of queuing for payment.

As for Dr Sukon, he stated that the my.t billpay will ease the students’ lives and dwelt on the core principle of the OUM which is online learning, bringing education at the doorstep of students.
