Vimla Govinda Seenauth was elected Mrs Mauritius World 2023-24 on Saturday June 17 at the Bliss Banqueting Hall in Arsenal. From January 14 to 21, she was in Las Vegas to defend our colors at the Mrs World grand final, where she placed in the Top 17.

Who is Vimla Govinda Seenauth?

I’m 42 and live in Melrose. I’m married to Dr Seenauth and have 2 daughters. I’m a high school teacher currently studying law. I’m preparing for my bar exams.

What motivated your participation in the Mrs Mauritius World contest?

I wanted to give myself a break by taking part in the Mrs Mauritius World contest. I needed a break from my studies.  Above all, I wanted to give myself a little more time. Entering Mrs Mauritius World and being selected by Lady Bacha was a breath of fresh air. Thanks to the support of the organizing committee, Reena, one of the participants, and my family, I was able to do my country proud.

How did your participation in the Las Vegas final go?

My participation in Las Vegas was fantastic. Between January 14 and 17, we had a very busy schedule, with interviews, rehearsals and so on. The grand final took place on January 21. It was a bit stressful, but I’m very happy to have made it into the Top 17. I also won the Fabulous Face Award. Not to mention that I also took 18ᵉ place in the national costume ranking – dress, which I made myself with the help of Mr. Laal.

What are your goals now until the end of your reign?

During my reign, I intend to promote breastfeeding with the help of my husband and his medical colleagues, because breastfeeding has many benefits for both mother and child.

I also want to raise awareness of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) by helping those living with OCD to lead full lives. I also want to campaign against bullying.
