Mother Turns In Drug Addicted Son For Theft

Must Read

A 31-year-old Grand Bay man has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in Grand Bay for two cases of theft, one of which was from his mother.  The thirty-year-old, who is a drug addict, was brought before the Pamplemousses court before being sent to the Beau-Bassin central prison on Tuesday 13 September.

A first complaint was lodged against the man on Tuesday 9 August at the Grand Bay police station where a resident of Camp Carol, in this coastal village, denounced him for the theft of his welding machine worth Rs 1700. After the man left his machine at the home of the suspect’s mother, it was allegedly stolen between 5 and 9 August.

On the afternoon of the same day, August 9, his mother had reported him for the theft of a sugarcane juice extractor, which was in his room. On Tuesday 13 September, a police operation was set up by the men of Sergeants Daby and Bankar, under the supervision of Inspector Thakoor, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

He was taken to the CID office in Grand Bay and subjected to intense questioning, and soon confessed his guilt in both thefts. He voluntarily returned the two stolen items to the investigators.
