An undercover operation mounted in the village of Clemencia in Bel Air Rivière Sèche on the afternoon of Monday 12 September led to the apprehension of Satish Gokhool, known as Ajay, a 47-year-old bricklayer, who offered to sell 131 grams of cannabis to police officers. A body search of his person revealed 135 seeds of the drug. The suspect was brought before the court in Flacq on Tuesday 13 September. He is facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking.
The operation was carried out at around 1.55pm on Monday 12 September by the men of Sergeant Balooa of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) in Moka. They had information that Satish Gokhool was involved in selling drugs. After contacts were made, he offered to sell the 131 grams of cannabis to the police. The value of this drug is Rs 157,200.
After being questioned, Satish Gokhool was arrested and detained at the Military Quarters police station on the orders of Assistant Superintendent of Police Satyadave Bancharam.
