Ministers Joe Lesjongard and Maneesh Gobin hosted the government press conference. Joe Lesjongard said that all the decisions taken by the government, since March 2020, were difficult, but necessary. He said that a lot of explanations must be given to the population so that they understand that the decisions taken are in their “interest”.
Joe Lesjongard also said that the Ministry of Health has been regularly reviewing the health protocol in the country. “We adjust the protocol as time goes by. Over time, we have learned how to manage the crisis and deal with the virus. We have been an example to the world! He then referred to the vaccination rate for a small country like Mauritius,” he added.
Joe Lesjongard criticised those who, out of an inflated ego and hatred, are criticizing the government’s efforts.
MSM President and Minister of Public Utilities Joe Lesjongard took the opportunity to state that the health of the population and the economy of the country are paramount for the government. At the same time, he asked the population to have full confidence in the Prime Minister, regarding the full reopening of the borders. While, Maneesh Gobin, Minister of Agribusiness and Attorney General, and also Secretary General of the MSM, pointed out, during this press briefing, that the MSM welcomes with open arms, all those who have the interest of the country at heart.
