Jean Kenny Jacquette Shot By A Hunting Rifle

Must Read

A man was arrested in the evening of 26th July following the crime that occurred at ‘Dragon’ avenue, in Bambous. On that night, the bouncer Jean Kenny Jacquette, aged 31 years, had been shot by a hunting rifle. The 39-year-old suspect, Pravesh Sharma Ramadith, resides in Bambous. Suspected to have shot the victim, he ascertained that he had a clash with some drug addicts on a wasteland near his house. However, he denies being the author of the shots and said that the drug addicts had been armed. Jean Kenny Jacquette, an inhabitant of Camp Levieux, died at the ‘Bon Pasteur’ clinic in Rose-Hill on 27th July.

Earlier on the 26th of July, Jean Kenny Jacquette called his father-in-law and asked him to meet in Bambous. The father-in-law was later questioned by the police. Reaching there, the latter saw a crowd and upon seeing that his son-in-law was wounded, he took him to the clinic. Meanwhile, the police had been informed of the shots coming from ‘Dragon’ avenue and had rushed on the spot. The clinic had also informed the police of the case.  At first, the police thought that the origin of the crime dated back to Saturday. On that day, a watchman, living in Quatre Bornes and the boyfriend of Jean Kenny Jacquette’s sister had called him for some explanations on certain issues. They met at 1 am at ‘Plaza’ in Rose-Hill but Jean Kenny Jacquette did not come alone. He was accompanied by eight armed men carrying sabers. The watchman, who complained at the police station on Sunday, stated that he had been beaten up by the gang and had been injured while avoiding a sabre strike. Scared, he ran away and has sought treatment at the ‘Victoria’ hospital. The police now think that a hunting rifle had been used to kill the victim and the cartridges were secured. It would however seem that what happened at ‘Plaza’ on early Sunday morning had nothing to do with his death. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was gunshot wound in the neck. Police are actively searching for other suspects, and the enquiry is ongoing.
